Created as a competition application to win a ticket to UX London 2011. I won a ticket and had an amazing experience.
The site had one chance to make an impression on the competition judges, so the concept had to fit the purpose perfectly. The idea of choosing to create a 'golden ticket' was the product of many sketches and discarded ideas.
As the concept had been chosen, the visual design had to work to fit the concept. I had decided that I wanted to use the latest html5 and CSS3 technologies available as the people viewing the application were technically adept and likely using the latest versions of browsers.
I knew that the design had to be exceptional, therefore I wanted to do something different that I had not seen before. Inspired by Trent Waltons typography experiments, I used an online font service, CSS3 masks and animations to create a golden 'gleam' across the title as the viewer read the content.
The content on the application was particularly important, it needed to convey the information as to why I deserved to win the ticket, but also the tone used had to fit the concept idea, I had some assistance from MA lecturer Chris Murphy when writing this copy.
